Start An eBay Business

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

My experience with starting an eBay business, though limited, has been a very good one and I must say that it can be very successful. This is what I did: I bought women's broomstick skirts at thrift stores for $3.00 to $5.00 a piece and then resold them on eBay for $15.00 to $18.00 each. They were perfectly good skirts and definitely worth what I was selling them for. I wrote good descriptions for each skirt, carefully detailing the features, the condition, the size, and just saying how good they look. Customers would happily buy them and leave me positive feedback on eBay.

Not everything you can get at thrift stores can be resold for any kind of a profit though. I've tried selling other things too and didn't have much luck with them. Women's clothing is a good niche market to get into as long as it's in style and there's enough of a demand for it. Try searching ebay.com for keyword "broomstick skirt" (or whatever other item you're interested in) and see how good they're selling and how much they're selling for. Then go to your local Goodwill, Value Village, or any other thrift store and look to see if they have anything that matches what you saw on eBay. If they do, and I'm sure they do, get it; it can't hurt to try at least once.
